Dappled horse at the fence
Least Complicated Soul

Let it be known, for the record and for all future confusion: this is Lily. Not Lilly Belle. Different horse, different philosophy of life entirely, and she would like that distinction respected.

Where Lilly Belle rules by decree, Lilly rules by proximity. Her ambition, in its entirety, is to be near you. Doing what, exactly, is negotiable — brushing is preferred, doting is welcome, but she will also simply stand there, content, radiating quiet approval, if all you have to offer is your company. She is, by a wide margin, the least demanding member of the herd. She just wants to be included.

The Motivations

Food gets her attention, same as anyone. But where some horses treat treats as a transaction, Lilly treats them more like a bonus — nice to have, not the point. The point is the brushing. The point is being fussed over. Give her a good grooming session and she will stand there like she's been personally nominated for something.

Finding Her Footing

She's newer to the herd, and it showed at first — a certain willingness to hang back, let others go first, take up less space than she probably deserved to. That's been changing. Lilly has started figuring out where she stands, and when it matters, she'll hold her ground now instead of just quietly stepping aside. Nobody had to teach her this. She worked it out on her own, the way most good confidence gets built — slowly, and then it's just there.

Current Status

Perfectly happy nearby. No agenda. No demands. Just present, and increasingly sure that she's allowed to be.

"Pet me? No — okay. I'll just be over here when you change your mind. You are changing your mind, aren't you?" — Lilly, EVERY day
